Love sports? At the Sports Careers Panel held on October 12, participants found out how you can translate your interest in sports into a rewarding career. Panelists included representatives from the Arizona Diamondbacks, UA Athletics, Phoenix Suns, Tucson Roadrunners, and a former intern for the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds.
If you are considering a career in one of the many facets of the sports industry, we hope you attended this opportunity, where panelists offered career insights that just might help you figure out where you could fit into this exciting field. Panelists shared information on their own career paths, trends in the field, and critical skills students should hone.
DIRECTOR OF SEASON TICKET SALES AND INSIDE SALES, ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS
Previously, Mike worked in sales, marketing, and management with the Frisco RoughRiders and the Cleveland Browns. Mike has a bachelor's degree in Sport Business from the University of Mount Union; during college he launched his career through numerous sports business internships. Mike was joined by Arizona Diamondbacks colleagues Alexis Espinosa ’09, Account Executive, Group Sales, and team lead Geno Fata.
Phoebe Chalk Wadsworth, Ed.D. '90 '08
ASSOCIATE ATHLETICS DIRECTOR FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA
Dr. Wadsworth focuses on development and alumni relations. She also serves as an adjunct professor in the Eller Sports Management Program, teaching a course on fundraising and public relations in college sports. Dr. Wadsworth has received numerous awards and recognition in the Tucson community, serves on multiple non-profit boards, and has athletics experience in public relations, community outreach, special events, managing cheerleaders and mascots, and more.

ACTIVATION MANAGER AT THE PHOENIX SUNS
Eric oversees all aspects associated with the implementation, activation, reporting and delivery of assigned marketing partnership agreements for the Phoenix Suns. Previously, Eric coordinated sponsor activity for 90+ sponsors and more than 10 million dollars in assets for IMG through Arizona Athletics. While a student at the UA, Eric worked in the McKale ticket office, as a marketing intern for Athletics, and for the Tucson Padres minor league baseball team.

SENIOR ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE, TICKET SALES WITH THE TUCSON ROADRUNNERS
Handling full season tickets, partial season ticket plans, groups & hospitality, as well as premium products for Tucson’s new AHL affiliate. Julie returned to Tucson after a year with the Arizona Coyotes in Phoenix. While a UA student majoring in marketing, Julie served as marketing intern with the Tucson Padres minor league baseball team.
Kacey Overlund '16
UA STUDENT WITH SPORTS-RELATED INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
Kacey has had multiple sports-related internships, including ballpark operations for the Cleveland Indians, special events and spring training with the Cincinnati Reds, and most recently, an internship with the Ripken Experience baseball tournament destination in Pigeon Forge, TN.
